I will be adding to this post as time goes,  our guild Adventurer's specializes in returners and new ones to the game. We have posts on our guild web site the assist those with the changes in game and making it easy and strait forward to 50 and tempt out.

This was my original intention of us all joining our guilds together, is so it will help other guilds grow and help their new members on their journey.

.THE FOLLOWING IS OUR RETURNER'S POST.

Were to start.

Welcome to all returners to DAOC.

A lot has changed since the beginning of the game. Tami and I have returned after a 4 or 5 year break, and were a little over whelmed.

We started looking for our old guilds and only found 3 of them. of the 3 , 1 was going to close it down. 2nd one was doing ok at 60 members but couldn't do much at 60 members.
3rd one well they have a group of 8 people that stayed from the beginning of the game and they run their 8 man group rvr every night at the same time. and do nothing else. they are great friends and now have great real life friend ships due to this game.

As we filtered threw many other guilds and alliances, we were not happy as the standards of old DAOC were gone, all the cussing, rudeness and disrespecting, were over whelming and constant.
We realized every one was going to the ywain servers so we decided to make our home here for the amount of players.

The games attendance or number of players is very limited.
As such the following has changed;

A. The lfg flag or window - don't bother no one uses it anymore. They now just use the different chat channels to find groups.
B. Old lands are empty - They are only used for certain quests or for events, with guilds or alliance members.
C. Between the numbers of players lacking and the size of the game there are just a few area's heavily used.
D. RVR has become the main focus of this game, it is hard to find a guild or even a alliance they does anything other than rvr.
E. The old friendliness and compassion and willingness to just jump in a group to just kill something on a moments notice is long gone.
F. DAOC has a tendency to nerf/ make it impossible to do things that will provide mass amounts of xp, and other currencies.
G. In stead of taking months to get to 50 you can get in in 6 hours - 2 days. depending on how and were you do it.
H. Most quests or lower level quests have been abandoned. Now its just the champion level quests and the ml10 quests. that are done.
I. All those old grinds in lyoness are long gone and even the idea of grinds is almost gone too.

The things that DAOC has done to help with these problems is the following;

A. They created tds/task dungeons you can get tasks in special dungeons, there are different dungeons for your corresponding level. i.e. lvl 15-31, lvl 31-40, lvl 41-50.
They give massive xp and money and a great big xp bonus when finished and they are of course repeatable. So you can solo to 50 in about 2 weeks.

B. You can buy armor and such using game currency and you can buy master levels and toa uniforms also, all this soloing.

C. Quest enemies, hit points have been lowered and made easer to kill.

D. Farming currencies and selling them is a key way to make money and spell crafting is another. There is a quest that gives 100 gold a run and is repeatable and can be done in about 10min a run with certain chars.

E. Having a large guild 100 plus members and an alliance of over 300 active players is key to being able to do anything in this game. Basically ml 10, and your last champion lvl, are impossible without guilds and alliances. Most guilds and alliances are un-helpful to non-guildies and non-alliance members.

As you can see a lot has changed and a lot of people have decided to get 2 or more accounts to help them level and game. Please feel free to add to this thread if you would like to help returners with what has changed if i missed things thanks.

I will also be writing on suggested ways to level and areas to level in.

 

RVR= Realm verses realm, realm fighting against realm

DTF= Dousing the flames quest, also referred to as the mayor quest.

DF= Darkness falls dungeon area at times a little rvr action

LAB= Another dungeon area massive rvr area

SCERS= Spell crafter's

TOA= Trials of alantis new lands

SI= Shrouded isle new land area

CO5= Circle of five quest.

AC= Avalon city a pve spot in si.

WC= Weapon crafter

LGM= Legendary crafter

MOLVIC= level 3?-39 rvr area.

RP realm points or role-play

NF= New frontiers

LOL= Laughing out loud

ROFL= Rolling on floor laughing 

OMG= Oh my god

/ COMMANDS


/gu= Guild chat

/say= Regular in front of person chat.

/g= Group chat

/send= Private communication must use /send name-ywain

/os= Officer chat

/as= Alliance chat

/gc quit= To leave the guild you are in.

/who name=  This tells you who the person is the type of char , level, guild they are in and their location.

/loc= Gives your current number location, helpful when in oceanus or anywhere for that matter trying to locate a specific enemy.

/gc invite name-ywain= You must be in the same area/ region as the person you are inviting.

/gc who= Gives you a list of those currently on that are in the guild

/social= This is a very helpful window; it gives you a list of who is on in both the guild and alliance and the ability to send each one and to see what, and were they are. it also have guild message of the day and officers message of the day and the alliance message.

We do not allow the following abbreviations; or anything resembling or that might seem like its violating guild or alliance rules.

Here are some suggested ways to level,

A. THIS IS SUGGESTED BEST WAY TO LEVEL/POWER LEVEL BY THE GUILD OFFICERS. Level in the beginning training area 1-7. At level 7 foil hat quest in cotswald. levels 7-10 beginning training area. level 10-39 battlegrounds questing. At 39 turn off xp by /xp off, then molvic to max out your rps/ relm points to rank RR 3. Then when done tun on xp by /xp on, then level 39-40 battlegrounds quests. levels 40-50 DTF/ douseing the flames quest with 2 sojos.

B. THIS IS SUGGESTED FASTEST WAY TO LEVEL/POWER LEVEL BY GM DAN. Plying/power leveling at cs tds/ castle savage task dungion level 1-7, then foil hat quest in cotswald at level 7, then levels 7-40 CS TDS, then levels 40-50 DTF.

C. THIS IS SUGGESTED SOLO WAY FOR FUN OR OLD TIMES BY GM DAN. Use the beginning training area to get 1- 7, 7 foil hat quest, 7-10 cs tds, level 10-20 Sewers in Camelot, 20-? Glastin Forge, after glastin forge do battle grounds then 40-46 dtf, then 46-47 lyoness, then 47-48 dartmoor, then 48-50 DTF/Mayor Quest.
This was just for nostalgia I don't recommend others wise.

Get some one to power level you 1-48 Castle Savage TD, 48-50 DTF
This takes approx 2 or 3 days, this seems to be the popular one at the moment.

Get power leveled by some one or a couple people at the orcs, 1-50 in 6 hours. I can see DAOC nerfing this one soon. 
This takes a cab, cleric- cab must have ml9 pet and this is a ongoing quest and requires planning and some time to get it moving, also some people camp this and charge people for them power leveling.
I am personally staying away from this, because of the planning effort and because DAOC has nerfed every month another one of the on going quest with mass xp.
 
Get a cab and cleric to power level you 1-50 in approx 8 hours at Trees in Lyoness.
We as a guild need to set some thing up a regular basis, to power level guildies and alliance members. I really like this idea and I already have the cab set up, and the cleric set up.

When I first came back, I wanted to do it the old way as best I could. So I soloed 1-50. I did 1-3? in Sewers and a break in SI for 3 levels, and then sewers, then Glastin Forge, then Cornwall, Lyoness area.
This took me about 2 weeks I played every day 16 hours a day.
I found gaps in between task dungeons and a gap in finding uniforms. The money for the uniforms was super hard to come by while soloing. This game is just not set up properly for soloing, the TDS were a response to the loss of players to wow. You really need a great uniform and weapon to solo and must keep up with stats every time you level.

You can always 1-10 training area and TD the rest of the way or just TD the hole way.

Castle Savage TD= This just requires the leader to be 41-50 to run the group. I like this above all other ways to level 41-48 because you average 3-5 bubbles of xp a run and each enemy gives a lot of gold, you will be needing that gold in the future. 

I recommend some power leveling With a GM DAN in Lyoness at the moorliches, you can learn how to play your char in a safe environment, and get personal help learning your char if you need it.

Molvic= RVR for levels 31-39 Some just play in this area, they make chars and get uniforms for just playing this area. they will level their chars to 39 and shut off the xp and get maxed out player crafted uniforms.
We as a guild do have just Molvic groups, so if this is what you want to do let us know, many in the guild will help you in this process. Many of the type of chars used in molvic are useless in any other part of the game so please ask what type of char to use.

TDS/Task Dungeons

WERE TO FARM FOR;
There are currencies in the game and differant places drop more than others here are the currencies and were we suggest you farm them.
glass - used to buy mls/master levels, arties/artifact uniforms,
deep valcanus-need full group or necro or cab for this.
typhones reach, theosneso- loc= you can solo here
stygna, delta- loc= you can solo here.

gold/plat used to buy glass and bps and uniforms and everything.

dtf-douseing the flames quest in ludlow get it from the mayor in the tavern., then takes you to cornwall kill elementals in cornwall ocean then go back to ludlow to the mayor 110 gold a run and 1 xp bub. can be done in 5 to 10 min with 2 sojos/scouts with mass gateway and a killer.

buy df diamond seals 8-10 gold a piece and then go to df and buy the -------- swords from --------- then salvage swords then tinker/make boxes. this takes a lot and i mean lot of time. you must have your salvageing skill maxed out and have tons of time to burn and some times you must wait for df to open. you make plat this way and some times a lot of plat.
we suggest you get a bull char because the wiet get real heavy.

co5/brimstone caverns- dungion gems just farm in there and sell to the merchant easy good money.

scales- killing pve things in dartmoor or ac/avalon city in si. these sell for big money on the housing merchants.

do master level 10 / ml10 raids the items you can get range from 14 plat-300 plat a piece. i dont think i need to say any more.

Glass

Perdias - loc 9424,29191,8131 = 100 glass a kill repops every 15 min. (usually camped by necros) [blue or green enemy]
Night terror - loc 4966,34032,8120 = 100 glass a kill repops 1 time a day/night every 24 hours. the items this enemy drops can be sold on the housing merchant. [green enemy]

Stygna , delta, - loc 52844,61624,8540 sobekite hulk on the island 10 glass a kill good xp. [red/purp enemies]

Volcanus, thusia nesos - loc 56321,49153,10320 walk forward from the djinn up the hill turn a slight right the forts and their is like 5 forts in the area. kill the enemies around the forts but not in the fort.
10-70 glass a drop. orange-purp enemies

Scrolls for artifacts - these 3 spots will give you just about all the scrolls in the game but each must be camped for 2-4 hours each spot. so they sometimes require 2 trips.

Oceanus, cetuspit - loc (underwater) 51883,16189,5177 = all scrolls naxos sentinels [yellow-orange enemies]

Stygna, delta - loc 22091,8958,9925 = all scrolls setians above the fort up on the hill i would advise  crossing water and running there by way of the mountians.

Oceanus, hesperos - loc 5488,39150,8087 = all scrolls harpies great hunt,gem of lost memories scrolls. the hole island. [green and blue enemies] be sure to check the surrounding islands.


TEMPLATING - is making a plan, or making a list of items/uniform pieces that will max out all your stats and resists.

Templating is done with a combination of researching;
VN boards - were people have posted their templates which are sometimes miss leading or a lie and some that are really good but not the best.

It will normally be a couple astral uniform items and a couple dragon items from trishy and some arties and 2-4 player crafted items.

Once you think you know what you want  put the items into the program called gearbunny or have some one do it for ya as gear bunny some times freezes comps. also put items into korts to make sure they are possible, if they are player crafted.

The player crafted items are done last, as they are to fill in or complete the maxing out of the stats or resists.
We as crafter's need to know
1. What type of material do you want it made out of. the so called fith slot is what magic comes in the uniform when all is done and depends on the type of material used.
2. What gems you want put into it and what the gems stats should be.
3. What gems go into what items.
Tami will do this at cost for guildies but will charge 1 plat for blow ups on top of the cost, so check your items in korts program or it could get costly.

We are only crafting for Molvic toons and 50 toons, all your other uniform needs can be bought with arualite from the battle grounds from 10-49.

Also please know what you want to do meaning; RVR or PVE, we will need to know how you are speced and what line of warrior you are meaning your path choice.

As noted in other area's of this guild web site this game have become very exclusive in how your char need to be in order to participate in alliance events and a couple guild events. we are here to help as best we can, some of your choices might be against the grain you might say depending on your play style.

*I DID WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT AT LEVELS 10,15,20,25,30 IF YOU GO TO THE CAMALOT TRAINER FOR YOUR CLASS THEY WILL GIVE A CHEST AND WEAPON FOR YOUR CLASS.*

10-35 QUESTS IN THE DIFFERENT TOWNS. WHEN AT A PORTER CHOOSE THE TOWNS OPTION AND THE DIFFERENT TOWNS WILL HAVE QUEST THAT ARE FOR YOUR LEVEL IT WILL SHOW THAT NEXT TO THE TOWN. YOU WILL PICK UP FULL UNIFORMS AND MITH'S AND OTHER UNIFORM /WEAPONS STUFF IN THESE QUESTS.

1. FOIL HAT / ZAREEZ QUEST AT LEVEL 7 BECAUSE THIS HAT PORTS YOU TO GOTHWAIT HARBOR FROM ALL OVER WITH NO COOL DOWN TIME AND UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF TIMES. THIS IS MOST HELPFUL WHEN SCALE OR GLASS FARMING AND WHEN DOING QUESTS LIKE MEDAL OF HONOR QUEST OR DOING ANYTHING FAR AWAY FROM PORTERS.

2. DYEING SON/FATHER QUEST IN ARBARDS RETREAT AT LEVEL 35. THIS GIVES YOU A MERCHANT YOU CAN BRING UP WHEN YOUR BAGS ARE FULL. AND ALL CAN USE IT. IT MAKES IT SO YOU CAN GAME/FARM LONGER AND MAKE MONEY SAVAGING FASTER.

3. CATHAL VALLEY- THEY IMPROVED THE AMOUNT OF MONEY AND BPS AND XP YOU GET IN ALL BATTLE GROUNDS. CATHAL IS AS BUSY IF YOU PUT THID AND MOLVIC TOGETHER.
THE RVR IS CRAZY BUSY AND FAST AT TIMES AND THERE IS A TONE OF PEOPLE IN IT. YOU CAN GET UNIFORMS AND ARTIES BOUGHT AND LEVELED UP FAST HERE. WITH ETHER MONEY BPS.
YOU MAX OUT YOUR RPS HERE SO YOU ARE VIABLE IN REAL RVR, AS THE RVR IN THIS GAME HAS TURNED SOMEWHAT ELITIST SO YOU WILL NEED POINTS IN CERTAIN THINGS TO PARTICIPATE IN ALLIANCE RVR.

INFILTRAITOR'S / INFI'S - HAVE BEEN GIVEN A BAD RAP SINCE THEY WERE NERFED MANY YEARS AGO WHEN TRYING TO USE THEM IN ANYTHING AT LEVEL 50.
SO THEY ARE CONSIDERED USELESS AFTER THID AND MOLVIC. MOST NF BG ZERGS AND 8 MAN VISI WILL NOT TAKE A INFI FOR THEIR LIFE.
STEALTH GROUPS SEE INFI'S AS A TANK FOR A ALL STEALTH GROUP.

I SEE THEN AS A MAIN PART OF ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF RVR.

IN NF THEY;
A. CLIMB KEEP AND TOWER WALLS.
B. TAKE OUT OIL AND SET IT UP AND POOR IT.
C. THEY PUT UP SPIKES AND ENTAGLES ON CONERS NEAR OIL.

Snatchers lvl 45-50 7% all bounty points earned and 6% all realm points earned. ( arti )
Greater guerdon mythirian - requirment = ml 8 realm point 6%
Dragon hoard mythirian - lvl 50 item = coin 3% realm points 3% all bounty points 3% exsperiance 3%

GLASS QUESTS ARE BEST XP GLASS IN GAME AND BEST CLXP AND NICE ARETI LEVELING XP AND VERY DECENT XP. THE MONEY IS WELL INSANE.

MASTER LEVELS CAN BE GOTEN AT 5-10 PLAT FOR ML 1-10
MLS 1-10 BUY WITH GLASS = 30,000 GLASS.

THE FOLLOWING IS OUR POST ON ARCHERS

This is just  starter guide to playing an archer, and getting the most out of your toon. I did it in question/answer format, and its for new archers

1) Is an archer a decent melee fighter, after all we put points in melee

answer; of all the classes that use melee to fight, we are the worst, and in pve will get in trouble if we need to melee npc mobs yellow and up, its just not viable in rvr, any who use weapons to fight, will beat us most times.

2) do we need to use certain shots, at certain times, they all do good dammage, can we chose randomly what shot we use, do we have to start with crit shot?

answer; stealth crit shot is our best first shot, and best done at max range, but its not a certiain win, and even if you miss with it, your still very in the fight, and should still win,
power shot is also a good first shot, if you miss with it, again, your still in the fight to win.

other shots;

fire shot, cold shot; uses lots of endo, does only slightly more dammage per shot than regular shot, unless you know the mob is very weak to fire or cold, its allways a poor choice, and should not be on your first set of hotbars, its our worst dammage per time spent shot, forget dps, think instead of the amount of time spent, and how much valuable endo is used.

regular shot, this is our best ranged shot after crit or power shot, and it does not use endo (we need to conserve endo), it should be used untill the target reaches 1000 units away from us.

long range shot, low damage, but good to pull yellow or even orange mobs with if your far away, and can't get in crit shot range 

rapid fire very low damage, but... it will stop casters from getting thier spells off, very useful since most castrs will win if you go even shot to spell with them.

point blank shot very high dammage, (it is our deadliest shot of all, over time), uses a small amount of endo, but very worth it., its not for when the mob is on top of you , its good to 1000 units, and its our fastest shot except rapid fire. next to it on your hot bar you should have a macro teling you when the target is within 1000 units, and its the shot you should use at that point. 
the macro goes like this ; /macro PB /groundset 1000, you will see a box, out in the field, when the mob gets past the box running at you, use only point blank. one other macro to have is /macro face /face

3) Why do I need to conserve endo? 

answer:, its allways better to run away, if you can, than to melee, it goes like this; mob is not near dead, and is chasing you, before he gets in melee range, run away, till you can stealth, the mob will then turn away from you, and walk home, when the range is right, crit shot him again, or use your PB macro and point blank him to death, this is called kiting, you can kill reds and purps this way , it takes longer, but its the way of the archer, be sure after you stealth to put up your pb macro, to give you a clue as to range. this method is good when you have room to run, and not into another mob. (you aren't beat if a mob isn't hurt much , and is still coming at you, this is how you kill it.

4) so i spent all those points in melee, or shield, when do i get to actually use them?
 
answer when a mob is so hurt  that it walks real slow, to save time go to the mob, and have at it with melee, even if he triples your damage, he hasn't got enough hp to win at this point.

realm skills for a begining archer
before picking realm skills, keep in mind , as archers, positioning, and distance from the target are critical to success , there really is nothing more important than that

dex nice use of realm points, but if you get any where near 400 dex with buffs on a begining archer at lvl 50, your good, it should not be your first choice, unless you have really low buffed dex.
dex increases bow skill, speed, and dammage, try to get dex up with items, save the realm points for what you need, (mos, long wind)
 
long wind get long wind 1, your going to have to run away a lot, its a must

most important take mastery of stealth to at least mos 8, or mos 9, the asassins do not ussually have that much, so you can get away from them stealth, and can see them with high mos, and can get range and position, you won't get ganked nearly as much, and in pve you can position yourself while stealth easily.
 
falcon's eye is not for a low rr, begining archer,  it does is increase crit chance, and only by a low percent, i'd personaly rather have mos 11 than any falcon's eye at all

I hope this helps ppl starting an archer, and I welcome any feedback bad or good, I don't know it all, I wanted this post for those that don't know much about playing an archer

Archers are an advanced class, only in that you have to think before making your move, and be aware of where you can run to kite, or get away, and they are also not the strongest toons, if you do not mind a challenge, they are a lot of fun to play, make excellent farmers, and quite a thrill when you make an rvr kill.

COMMENTS ON ARCHERS POST

Oh I like this post a lot Montak, a hole lot, I will add to it in a bit but for now.

I use long shot if its out of rang of crit, but I normally get closer so I can use crit as my first shot.

1st shot - Crit or power depending on situation.
2nd shot - Fire or ice depending on distance and if they are week to one of those.
3rd shot - Point blank.
4th shot - If needed point blank.

If in close proximity to enemies.

1st shot - Crit or power shot.
2nd shot - Point blank.
3rd shot - Point blank.
If not dead, I go hand to hand.

I have learned to love the scout. While cab/friar combo is the best farming in the game, the scout we use to farm crafting supplies and arti books, and glass and scales and DTF and we use is also for lab and nf rvr.
Its very versatile. You have personal gateway porting to bind stone and a group porting to bind stones. You can have 2 merchants one from sojo and one from in game and you can get foil cap to port you to gothwaite near a porter and if bound in lab you can get anywhere.

The cheapest way I found to outfit a archer is the following;

Using a combination of arties and at level 49.5 getting a cathal valley uniform.
