disclaimer: This is a guide that we, (LonaValamari & Bad_Bad_Zoot), compiled from our personal experiences and the experiences of others. It is not meant as the be-all and end-all to wedding planning. Everyone is different and may have a different way of approaching wedding planning.

Hosting an in-game wedding event
takes a lot of effort and work, but the reward is worth it. Planning a
wedding will allow you to organize effectively and will help you in getting the turnout you want and most importantly, enjoy the wedding. 1. Come up with an idea (Research). 2. Determine date(s) & time(s) for the event. 3. Get help. 4. Determine what is necessary to implement the idea (Storyteller props, Live Interactive support). 5. Advertise event. 6. Host event. 7. Follow-up from the event.
  • Read the Star Wars Galaxies Wedding Guide.
  • Select a Wedding theme
    • Jedi themed wedding
      • During this time period, between Episode 4 and before Episode 5, (somewhere between 0 and 1 ABY), Jedi were systematically hunted and exterminated under Imperial rule. A public Jedi ceremony broadcasted on the holonet would get you bounty hunted.
        • Jedi Code. Jedi did not marry (with some exceptions), in order to avoid attachment and (according to Vergere) so as not to create dynasties of those strong in the Force.
        • However, in many periods of the Order's history, such as the era prior to Exar Kun and in Luke Skywalker's Reformed Jedi Order, marriage was not forbidden.
    • Imperial themed wedding
      • During this time period the Galactic Empire is in power.
    • Rebel themed wedding
      • Aswith Jedi, the Rebels in this time period need to be discreet. TheRebel Alliance was a loose alliance of planetary-level, system-leveland sector-level resistance forces formed in direct military oppositionto the Galactic Empire. A public Rebel ceremony broadcasted on the holonet would get you arrested.
    • Species-specific wedding - i.e Singing Mountain Clan, Zabrak wedding, etc...
    • Star Wars themed wedding - i.e. replicating the Wedding of Anakin Skywalker & Padmé Amidala at the Lake Retreat.
    • Non-canon character or non-Star Wars - i.e. Elvis impersonator, Real-world themes, or Real-world Wedding traditions.
    • PvP themed wedding - Host a PvP event during or after the wedding ceremony.
  • Picka location. Scout for possible areas that are accessible by allcharacters levels and that are not Kill on Site zones for differentfactions.
    • PA halls can be used or city buildings such as city hall.
    • Player-controlled theater or cantina
      • Mayors can place public gardens and other decorations around the city.
    • Ifyou want a non-PvP wedding, do not plan a location where a specificfaction is near the city or locale of an opposing guild unless you havemade cease-fire arrangements in advance.
    • Stand in an area for at least 15 minutes to make sure it is not a spawn spot.
    • Choose areas that are picturesque, romantic, or have special meaning for the bride & groom.
    • Choose areas that can easily accommodate the number of expected guests, the entertainers, and the firework display artists.
    • Choose a location for the after-party or reception.
      • Youcan also have the wedding and reception in close proximity. If thereception requires a planet-hop, some players might not show up at thereception.
    • Host a Wedding in Space - Get a POB (Sorosuub Luxury Yacht, Nova Courier, VT49 Decimator, YT-1300, YT-2400, Y-8 Mining Ship).
    • Possible Points of Interest
      • Theed Grand Palace, Naboo (-5500 4425)
      • Lake Retreat, Naboo (-5540 -125)
      • Vreni Theatre, Corellia (-5420 -6260)
      • Ancient Temple, (Rori -6975 -5650)
      • Elegant Retreat, (Rori 5220 1010)
  • Select wardrobe color(s)
  • Research & write Marriage vows
examplesof weddings from left to right: 1. A wedding held on a Sorosuub LuxuryYacht. 2. A wedding held in a player city. 3. A wedding held in aplayer city with live interactive support. 4. A wedding held in aChapel (PA guild hall).
  • Plan a few days in advanced if you plan to throw a small wedding of about 20 or fewer attendees
  • Plan at least 2 weeks in advanced for a large wedding (more than 20 attendees)
    • If your Wedding is public, advertise it on the forums
    • Multiple activities - i.e. guided hunts, scenic space cruises, choreographed entertainer performances, or large fireworks demonstrations.
    • Customized wedding favors - i.e. commemorative food, cake, drinks, gifts, décor, mouse droids, pistols, dice, or swoops
    • Build fireworks show.
  • Considerthe time zones. Your West Coast friends in the US may not be able toattend a weekday wedding that starts at 6 pm ET (3 pm PT) because manyof them will be at work. Similar time restrictions may apply toEuropean players.
    • Try to find a middle ground. Majority of players can attend during the weekend or Friday night.
  • The World Clock - Current local times around the world
  • Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii and the territories of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa are the only places in the U.S. that do not observe DST (Daylight Savings Time) but instead stay on standard time all year long.
  • Delegate tasks to guild members. Assign clear duties and responsibilities.
  • Hire a Wedding Planner, if you can.
    • Experienced wedding planners will sometimes sell “Do it yourself”, or “Mos Vegas”wedding kits that include bridal attire for the bride, the groom, bridesmaid gowns and groomsmen attire in several colors. Pieces of wedding cake, and champagne can be sold on the vendor.
    • Wedding planners charge a minimum of 10k million credits and up to 100k million credits.
  • Organize a Wedding Party
  • Find or hire a Master Image Designer (Entertainer) that can offer complimentary image design sessions at the wedding and reception.
  • Find or hire Entertainers and a Bandleaderto conduct the songs. Some of the dancing troupes have choreographedroutines with organized lighting effects and costume changes.
  • Find or hire a Tailor (Domestic Goods Trader) to craft the entertainer costumes and bridal attire. You can find participating tailors in the sign-up thread stickies in the Trader (Domestic Goods) forum.
    • Be aware of gender restrictions for clothes. In addition, the color palette for Wookiees are limited.
    • Includerings (signet & band style rings), shoes, gloves, and headgear forbrides (Twi’lek brides) and shoes and a shirt for the grooms. You caninclude an attached inscription.
    • Bride & groom can design outfits before visiting a tailor: TK Fashion.
    • Show the creation (dress style & colors) to the bride for a final approval.
  • Find or hire a Chef (Domestic Goods Trader) to craft food & drink commemoratives. They can name the items “Wedding cake” or use the bride and groom’s name
  • Find or hire a dedicated Photographerwith a good video card and gamma setting. Use the option SHIFT + CTRL +H to turn off the HUD and to turn off some shots with chat bubbles ornames. Ask them to turn up their detail settings to get higherresolution.
  • Contact a Film Maker or learn how to use recording software, such as fraps if you plan to record the event.
  • Organize a Security Team.
  • Find or hire a Pilot for space yacht weddings or receptions.
  • Find or hire a Staging Personnel to place storyteller props and assist with the staging of the actual wedding.
  • Find or hire a Fireworks Artist to prepare the fireworks. Scout for an ideal location to light fireworks.
  • Havea backup roster of helpers in case something comes up. You can assigntraders to craft generic wedding gifts named “A toast to the bride andgroom” or “Thank you for sharing in our joyous day”.
  • You can also contact an event helper for help with your event.
Purchase holo-emotes in advanced from an Image Designer. Visit your local Tailor.

Have your Chef create food. Hire a Firework artists to launch fireworks at the right time.
  • Decorate a wedding chapel. Refer to the guide to home decorating and plan out what type of furniture / decor you want to include.
    • Provide a chapel that is large enough to accommodate the guest list.
    • Providesufficient seating. Seats with tall backs will usually obstruct theview of those sitting behind them. You can use ottomans to eliminatethat problem. If chairs are used, be sure to leave spaces between themand stagger the rows to ensure visibility.
    • Create a wedding aisle or walkway to serve as a bridal procession.
    • Use a lot of flowers and candles to create the ideal wedding ambiance.
    • Provide sufficient lighting. You can place candles inside crystals or nestled into plants and trees.
    • You can use certain clothing as stage curtains.
    • Providea private area for the wedding party (bridesmaid, groomsman, entertainers) to assemble and change clothes at the wedding site.
    • Droids, vendor, or items can be named "Reception Next Door", and they can be dropped in entryways to provide directions.
    • If you have a trader character, pick a unique building sign (style 1, 2, 3, 4). Use hex codes for your building signage.
  • Vendors selling 1-credit wedding cake sliceswith the date of the wedding as a name attached to each slice and other1-credit mementos for attendees to take with them as a keepsake.
  • Item checklist
    • 2 Wedding rings.

Step-bey-step instructions for Bride & Groom:

1.Both characters must unequip wedding bands. The Bride carries theGroom's ring and the Groom carries the Bride's ring because once unityhappens the ring switches inventories.
"No trade" rings can not be swapped. One can still join inunity with such rings, but each partner will keep his or her own in such acase.

Chapter 5 patch notes:

Thunderheart wrote:

* Unity: Selected rings are no longer traded in the Unity ceremony. Players will instead wear the ring they choose. A unity band will become un-tradable if it is not already and will revert to tradable status should the unity be terminated.

* Unity: Players must meet any profession/level requirements for equipping the unity ring to select that ring during the ceremony.

* Unity: Game systems no longer enforce wearing unity rings all the time. Spouses may have their own opinion on the subject.

2. The Groom (or Bride ifyou want) opens the inventory and clicks on the wedding band to openthe radial menu. Click on Propose Unity.

3. The Bride gets a pop-up window:

4. if you have more than one ring you will see another pop-up window asking you to select a ring.

5. Tada! You are now married.

You will automatically equip the wedding band:

And your marraige status will appear in your character sheet in the Personal tab.

Pictures of reception parties.
  • Send a thank you letter to all of those who attended the event.
  • Write an event report and post in the galaxy forum, events, fan sites or roleplaying server communities.
  • Tell people how the event went. Post images of screenshots and give them the URL.
  • Contact people who run fan sites and pod casts to feature your post-event news. You can find these people in the community news forum.
