disclaimer: This is a guide that we, (LonaValamari & Ziso), compiled from our personal experiences and the experiences of others. It is notmeant as the be-all and end-all to planning a fashion show or costumeparty. Everyone is different and may have a different way ofapproaching the planning of a fashion show or costume party.

Hosting an in-game fashion show
takes a lot of effort and work, but the reward is worth it. Planning a
fashion showwill allow you to organize effectively and will help youin getting the turnout you want and most importantly, enjoythe show.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj90/HGS-FashionShow/date.png
  • Plan a few days in advance if you plan to throw a small Costume Party or Fashion Show of about 20 or fewer attendees.
  • Plan at least 2 weeks in advance for a large Show (more than 20 attendees).
    • If your Fashion Show is public, advertise it on the forums.
  • The World Clock - Current local times around the world.
  • Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii and the territories of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa are the only places in the U.S. that do not observe DST (Daylight Savings Time) but instead stay on standard time all year long.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj90/HGS-FashionShow/help.png
  • Delegate tasks to guild members and or friends. Assign clear duties and responsibilities.
  • Find or hire an MC / Announcer that will introduce the contestants before they strut their stuff.
  • Recruit impartial Judges, preferably from different guilds.
  • Find or hire a Master Image Designer (Entertainer) that can offer complimentary image design sessions at the Show.
    • Imagedesigners add weight to a player and dress him or her in a Santa Clausecostume or ID someone to have pale skin, red lips and green hair toresemble the Joker.
    • Make sure to order holo-emotes in advance. Players with Princess costumes can use glitter effects.
  • Find or hire a Tailor (Domestic Goods Trader) to craft per-made costumes to place in vendors for guests. You can find participating tailors in the sign-up thread stickies in the Trader (Domestic Goods) forum.
  • Find or hire a dedicated Photographerwith a good video card and the proper gamma setting. Use the optionSHIFT + CTRL + H to turn off the HUD. The photographer should also turnoff chat bubbles and player names as well as turn up their detailsettings to get higher resolution photos.
  • Organize a Security Team.
  • Find or hire a Staging Personnel to place storyteller props and assist with the staging of the Show.
  • Have a backup roster of helpers in case something comes up.
  • You can also contact an event helper for help with your event.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj90/HGS-FashionShow/Implementation.png
  • Decorate a fashion runway. Refer to the guide to home decorating and plan out what type of furniture / decor you want to include.
    • Provide a building that is large enough to accommodate the guest list.
    • Providesufficient seating. Seats with tall backs will usually obstruct theview of those sitting behind them. Be sure to leave spaces between thechairs and stagger the rows to ensure visibility.
      • Provide a table and seating for the Judges near the front of the runway or stage.
    • You can place costumes on display, hang face masks, and sparkly Entertainer props on your walls.  This helps to create the ideal ambiance.
    • Provide sufficient lighting. You can place candles inside crystals or nestled into plants and trees.
    • You can use certain clothing as stage curtains.
    • Youcan provide a private area for the costume party to assemble and changeclothes at the site. Set up vanity tables in the bathroom with itemsthat look like costume makeup to help your guests get in the spirit ofthe party.
    • Droids, vendors, or items can be named "Costume Party Next Door", and they can be dropped in entryways to provide directions.
    • If you have a trader character, pick a unique building sign. Use hex codes for your building signage.
  • Decide on a method of scoring. This can be a point system on a scale of 1-10 points.
    • Usethe medal table concept, which ranks contestants based on their first(gold), second (silver) and third (bronze) place finishes.
      • Rank: Winner, 1st Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up, 3rd Runner-Up, 4th Runner-Up.
  • Use Storyteller items. View Storyteller Decorations.
  • To request Event Support (Pex), follow this Step-by-step guide. **Live Interactive was cut in May 2008 (Time to say farewell)**
    • If you plan to request an NPC played by Pex, do research on the character. Pex will need to follow certain character guildlines. A helpful resource is Wookieepedia.
    • If you plan to request an NPC played by Pex, look at the character list. You can also request non-canon characters.
You can use a Guildhall as a stage or runway. Color coordinate the furniture and create special seats for the judges.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj90/HGS-FashionShow/guildhall.png

You can host the costume contest on top of a guildhall or on a storyteller stage.

Star Wars characters can be played by Events Manager, Pex. BibFortuna, Oola, Sy Snootles or Lady Valarian would fit into a FashionShow or Costume Party. They are mostly neutral and are involved in theentertainer business.
