Welcome to the Karana Council of Guilds web site

First, a word about who we are NOT. Karana Council of Guilds is NOT KGC (Karana Guild Central).  KGC is the organization that organizes and maintains Karana's rotations on various targets.  We support KGC, and we are a member of KGC, but we have no more control or input on rotations than any other guild or alliance.  If you are looking for KGC, go here.

KCoG was founded to further the player community on the Everquest server, Karana. Our primary purpose is to work to create and maintain communication between all the guilds on this server, both member guilds and non-member guilds.

We want to provide events of all types to the players of Karana, including role-playing, wars, storylines, competitions and fun activities that all players, guild members, independents, and friends will enjoy.  All KCoG-sponsored events are open to anyone of appropriate level, reagardless of guild affiliation.  Other attendance requirements (minimum resists, etc.) may apply and are decided by the individual raid leader.  Item drops are rolled on a NBG basis, with no preferences given based on guild affiliation or attendance at previous raids.

Sign up to become a member of the best community of helpful people around! Find help for yourself or your guild in obtaining goals and have fun doing it! Meet some great people and discuss anything that is on your mind. Make sure you remember to join KCoG channel online if you want to say Hi or ask any questions.

    Slight change in forum setup
    NerissaGoldenrose, Oct 7, 04 11:25 AM.

Its been quite a while since VS was a rotation target, and as seldom as we organize VS raids, he no longer merits his own forum. As I believe he is best described as a non-rotation epic mob, I've moved all posts from the VS forum to the Epic Raids forum, and deleted the forum. At some point, I may consolodate the remaining event forums further, but for now they remain as follows: CoG Dragon Raids -- primarily Vox & Naggy, unless someone thinks they can get the support for one of the bigger ones, and is willing to lead it. Right now, I lead most of the Vox & Naggy raids, but feel free to organize one if you want. :) I'd personally love to be involved in trying one of the bigger dragons, but there's no way I'd be able to lead the raid. CoG Planes Raid Scheduling -- PoFear and PoSky. These are still KGC-controled zones, so they'll keep their own forum for now. If you wish to lead a KCoG-sponsored raid in one of these zones, please read the post "stickied" at the top of this forum first. (Note: NToV is also a KGC-controlled zone, but I don't forsee KCoG heading there any time soon. ) CoG Epic Raids -- all other raids (i.e. not dragons, PoFear, or PoSky) for epic parts or epic progression Events -- anything else. Raids & mixer events NOT aimed at getting someone an epic part. For example, a ring war or shawl crawl might be posted on this forum, as might a chess match or role playing event. Calendar Requests should be used only to request that an event be added to the calendar. Discussion of strategy, best day, etc. should remain in the appropriate other forum. I will often manage to get an event on the calendar without it being in the Calendar Requests forum, but making a request here guarantees it will come to my attention and get on the calendar promptly.

    GuildPortal Subscription due Sept 26
    NerissaGoldenrose, Sep 10, 04 6:31 AM.

Right now (Sept 10), KCoG's PayPal account holds a grand total of $2.06 (US). We need $30.00 in the account by Sept 26 to maintain our "subscribed" status with GuildPortal. Upgrading to a "plus" subscription (includes domain name) is an extra $15 (for a total of $45) every 6 months. I would *like* to do this, but won't unless we get at least $15 in donations specifically marked as applying to domain name. All donations apply first to the "standard" subscription, so if we get a total of $35, I can't go "plus" even if $15 of that is marked for domain name. Not only do non-paid sites have ads, but they also have limits to content such as the number of events that can be on the calendar and the number of replies allowed to a topic in a forum. I'm not sure what, if anything, else is limited on the non-paid sites, but I personally prefer the "full" version of the site. So, if you ever considered donating, the next 2 weeks are the time to do it. Remember that PayPal deducts its fees from whatever you donate before it gets into our account, and I believe the fees are higher if you donate via credit card rather than via direct bank transfer. With the $2 we currently have, $30 in donations *should* be enough to cover the cost. Anything left over will be saved until the subscription comes due again in March. To donate, go to www.paypal.com and send donation/payment to kcogweb@yahoo.com No, we have no mechanism for donations if you do not use PayPal. GuildPortal only accepts payments via PayPal, so the money HAS to be in our PayPal account when the subscription tries to renew. Many thanks to those who have donated in the past, as well as those who will dontate in the future.

    Mailing List Clean-Up
    NerissaGoldenrose, Aug 20, 04 1:12 PM.

We still have a "Dragon Notification" mailing list left over from when Vox & Naggy were on rotation, and we had to be able to notify people quickly if we were up. Since that type of rotations really don't exist any more, I'm thinking it might be best to convert it to a general "raid reminder" list. I'll try to send out a reminder a day or two before any scheduled raids, but it is still no substitute for checking the calendar & forums at least a couple of times a week. Also, there is quite a bit of "dead weight" on that list -- people who are no longer willing or able to attend raids, but haven't bothered to unsubscribe, either because the message goes to a "spam catcher" account, or because it generates so little traffic as to be more trouble to unsubscribe than to put up with. To fix this, I sent out an e-mail today requesting that everyone who wants to REMAIN on the list to either PM me or post here by Sept. 1. Anyone who has not done so will be removed from the list at that time. If you're not on the list, but wish to be, you can subscribe via the link on the main page. If you subscribe before Sept 1, please also post or PM me so taht you are not removed from the list. when I do my purge. If you get purged accidentally, I apologize in advance. (Belive it or not, I do make mistakes sometimes. ;) ) The easiest thing to do then is to simply re-subscribe via the link on the main page. If I screwed up, the only thing I can do about it is to re-subscribe you, which you can do just as easily. You will still need to do the opt-in part, no matter which of us subscribes you (I can't get around it -- Bravenet requires it), and it may take me a few days to find time to do it, so you might as well just do it yourself. (In re-reading that last paragraph, I realize it may sound harsh... I apologize, I simply meant to convey the realities of the situation, and can't come up with a less-harsh way to say it unambiguously.) I will send out a confirmation e-mail once I have completed my purge. If you think you should be on the list, and do not recieve an e-mail by Sept 6, PM me or post on the forum.

    Failed attempt on Vox
    NerissaGoldenrose, Feb 23, 04 9:13 AM.

We *finally* get a shot at Vox, and not enough people showed up to take her down.  We gave it a good try, though.  I really considered calling it off due to lack of people, but with all of the reports of her going down to a single group, I figured we could try with what we had -- about four groups plus support, and only one enchanter and one bard for mana sieve.  Looking back, it was probably a bad idea to keep going, but we did anyway.

We managed to get her down to 22% before the last person died.  The really bad parts were that she managed to get out of her lair a couple of times during our recovery, and a group coming through for the Beastlord epic mob lost control of their target, and he rampaged all through the zone, both of which made recovery take WAY longer than it should have, or we might have been able to try again.  One of our clerics got caught in a death loop, I'm really not sure if we managed to get all of her bodies or not. =(

Thanks to all who helped out with support and corpse recovery, your help is very much appreciated.
