While were on the topic of mail, check out the latest in game support window.  Search on Mail.  You will note that Blizzard has decided to delay all money mail transactions for up to an hour.  So much for attaching 1c to my bag mails to get them through faster.  However, it appears they flipped the wrong bit and now ALL MAIL is being INSTANTLY transferred among toons under the same account.  Time to get all your loot transferred for skilling up!  Make use of the bug now before they catch it AND be prepared for long delays in money transfers once they do.

There are a number of loot settings:

1.  Master Looter.  In this mode one player is the looter and this player distributes the loot across the group.  The advantages are that loot is distributed evenly across the team.  The disadvantage is that for any BoP items, the body has to be unlocked so the "assigned winner" can loot the item themselves.

2. Free For All (FFA).  In this mode the first person to loot the body gets all the loot they want.

3. Group Loot (aka Round Robin).  In this mode, the server assigns the looter in a rotating method. 

4. Need before Greed.  In this mode, the server examines each player to determine who can use the equipment.  So, if you are a group consisting of a Paladin, a Mage, a Priest and a Warlock - and a Polearm drops only the Paladin will get to loot it.  If there are two Paladins however, they will be presented with the Need / Greed / Pass dialog.  No one else in the group will see it.

5. Loot Level (Uncommon, Rare, Epic etc).  In this mode, which is actually a varient to Group Loot,  the looting system is set to Round Robin mode and any loot that drops which meets the level selected will result in a Need / Greed / Pass option being presented to all players.  So in our ficticious drop from section 4, in which a Polearm drops on a group comprised of a Paladin, Mage, Priest and Lock - all four players get the dialog and can roll for the item.

This brings into question the idea of how much a server likes a particular player when it comes to his or her dice.  In our guild we have noted that during play, with the loot level set to Uncomming (green or better results in a group wide roll) it is NOT uncommon for one particular player in the group to CONSISTENTLY win.  We are still researching this - we don't know why - but it could have something to do with the amount of damage a player does during combat.  For example, the tank will probably always win.
