Frequently Asked Questions about GuildPortal Hosting
On June 7th, 2007, GuildPortal underwent a security lock-down to prevent anonymous users from compromising the security of guild sites. Many types of scripts are still allowed, however, and GuildPortal sites even comes with jQuery ready for scripting.
The event was isolated, and quickly resolved, though we regret that at the time we could not notify our users, because we had to nail down the attack vector without tipping off the hackers that we were on to them. Since then, GuildPortal's configuration and code base have been hardened to -- and past -- the point of paranoia, not just blocking attacks, but monitoring the behavior of attackers (without letting the hackers know we're doing it) in order to provide useful data for us (the good guys). We also have, and utilize, a direct line to the FBI Cybercrime division for reporting attempted attacks.
